As part of the Women’s Activity Portfolio, there is a strong focus on youth, particularly girls aged 5-17. A Girls Club has been revived to facilitate activities once a month, providing a dedicated space for young girls to engage, learn, and grow.
A fun session was dedicated to Islamic art, where young girls explored various art forms and engaged in a meaningful discussion about the importance of art activities in understanding and preserving our cultural roots. This activity was particularly significant for the girls, as it provided them with a deeper appreciation of their heritage and the rich traditions of Islamic art. The session also encouraged the girls to express themselves creatively and to recognize the role of art in connecting past traditions with contemporary life. Overall, the Islamic art session was an essential part of the Girls Club’s mission to provide educational and enriching experiences that support the holistic development of young girls within the community.
The Mbeya Girls Club was also active with a program that touched on various subjects designed to help the young girls become more self-sufficient. Other programs covered interesting topics such as sandwich making, folding clothes, organizing their wardrobes, and preparing for school the next day. These practical skills are essential for fostering independence and responsibility in young girls.
The event was very fruitful and fun, enjoyed by all participants, and it highlighted the importance of equipping young girls with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their daily lives effectively.
