Global Encounters: Expedition, a 2.5 week international camp for Ismaili youth, is now accepting applications. Two camps are being offered in December 2019: one in East Africa and one in India.
Global Encounters gives students the unique opportunity to experience lived pluralism, while staying on flagship sites: the Aga Khan Academies and Serena Hotels and local lodges. Students will volunteer in local communities, cultivate lifelong friendships with brothers and sisters from around the world, experience the AKDN’s work in action, broaden their perspectives in thought provoking and challenging workshops, explore arts and culture, and visit world heritage sites– all while having loads of fun!
Over the past seven years, over 1000 participants from 35 countries have made lifelong friendships with their peers from around the world, collectively contributed over 40,000 hours to local schools and communities, and transformed the way they think about the world.
We welcome you to apply. Global Encounterscamp is open to youth who arebetween 15 and 17 years of age by 1stJune2019. Students should be in their last three years of secondary school.
Two camps are planned for December 2019. Expected dates are 20 December 2019 to 6 January 2020:
- Global Encounters Kenyawill include time at Aga Khan Academy Mombasa and time in Nairobi exploring AKDN and Jamati Institutions.
- Global Encounters Indiawill include time at the Aga Khan Academy in Hyderabad and engagements with the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme and Jamati institutions in Gujarat.
