Over the past seven years, nearly 1000 participants from 35 countries have made lifelong friendships with their peers from around the world, collectively contributed over 30,000 hours to local schools and communities, and transformed the way they think about the world. We welcome students to apply to GlobalEncounters camps in Kenya, India, and Pakistan.
GlobalEncounters gives students the unique opportunity to experience lived pluralism, while staying on the flagship campuses of the Aga Khan Academies and the AgaKhan University. Students will volunteer and lead service projects in local schools and communities, cultivate lifelong friendships with brothers and sisters from around the world, experience the AKDN’s work in action, broaden their perspectives in thought provoking and challenging courses, explore arts and culture, visit world heritage sites, and discover what it means to be a global citizen – all while having loads of fun!
GlobalEncounters seeks passionate and motivated youth who have a range of interests. The camp is open to Ismaili youth who will be between 15 and 17 years of age by 1st June2019. Students should have completed their first year of secondary school and should be entering their last three years of secondary school. Staff applications are also open for young professionals who have completed university and have a passion for working with youth.
Three camps are planned for 2019:
- Global Encounters Kenya, hosted at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa with an excursion to Nairobi will be from 4thJuly to 28th July 2019;
- Global Encounters India, hosted at the Aga Khan Academy inHyderabad with an excursion to Delhi from 4thJuly to 28th July 2019;
- Global Encounters Pakistan, hosted at the Aga Khan University(Karachi) and Aga Khan Higher Secondary School (Hunza) from 26th June to 23rd July 2019.
